PROJECT DESCRIPTION

THE BRIEF FROM THE CLIENT WAS TO REMODEL THE TWO STOREY VICTORIAN TERRACE HOUSE IN THE CITY OF PORT PHILLIP BY KEEPING THE ORIGINAL MAIN DWELLING AT THE FRONT AND DEMOLISH THE NON ORIGINAL PART OF THE HOUSE AND USE THE REAR SECTION TO THE MAXIMUM THAT AS WE POSSIBLY COULD.

THE CHALLENGE WAS THE NARROW AND LONG SHAPE OF THE SITE IN REGARD TO PENETRATING LIGHT INTO THE MID SECTION BETWEEN THE ORIGINAL EXISTING PART AND THE NEW EXTENSION.

IN ORDER TO LET THE LIGHT PENETRATES INTO THIS AREA, SOME SKYLIGHTS WERE INTRODUCED AND CAREFULLY LOCATED ABOVE THE FIRST FLOOR LEVEL.  ALSO A GLASS FLOOR WAS DESIGNED TO ACT AS A BRIDGE CONNECTING THE EXISTING FLOOR TO THE NEW EXTENSION ON THE UPPER FLOOR TO LET THE LIGHT PENETRATES TO THE MID SECTION OF THE GROUND FLOOR.

AN OPEN PLAN LAYOUT FOR THE NEW REAR LIVING - DINING - KITCHEN AREA WAS CREATED AS WELL AS A NEW OUTDOOR ENTERTAINING AREA WHICH DOESN'T EXIT PREVIOUSLY.
